Secret Chat ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using Secret Chat, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide the service:

Anonymous User ID: When you open the app for the first time, we automatically assign you a randomly generated anonymous ID (Firebase UID). This is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity.
Display Name: The name you choose during onboarding. This is stored locally on your device and synced to our servers only to display it during chat sessions.
Device Token (FCM): A push notification token generated by your device, used to send optional daily notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Usage Data: General app usage patterns collected anonymously by Firebase Analytics to help us improve the app. This does not identify you personally.
Report Data: If you report another user, we store the report details (your anonymous ID, the reported user's anonymous ID, and the chat room ID) to help us moderate content.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Your real name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information
Your location
Your contacts or address book
Your photos, camera, or microphone
Chat message content — conversations are not stored after a chat session ends

3. How We Use Your Information

To match you with other users or an AI persona for a chat session
To deliver optional daily push notifications
To moderate content and respond to user reports
To serve ads through Google AdMob (see Section 5)
To improve app performance and stability
To filter and block objectionable content using automated keyword detection (both on-device and server-side)

4. AI Processing (Google Gemini)

Secret Chat uses Google Gemini Flash, an AI model provided by Google, to power AI-based chat personas. When you are matched with an AI, your messages are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing in order to generate a response.

Messages sent to Gemini are processed in real time and are not stored by us after processing.
Google may process this data in accordance with their own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing Google's Privacy Policy.
Gemini is called exclusively from our secure backend (Firebase Cloud Functions) — never directly from your device.
You will be informed of this AI processing and must consent before you can use the app.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

We use Google AdMob to display interstitial advertisements between chat sessions. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) to serve personalized ads.

On iOS, we will ask for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before any personalized advertising data is collected.
If you decline ATT, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
You can opt out of personalized ads at any time in your device settings.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate the app:

Google Firebase — authentication, database, cloud functions, and analytics
Google Gemini — AI message processing
Google AdMob — advertising

All third-party providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

7. Data Retention

Chat messages are automatically deleted from our servers when the chat session ends.
Your anonymous user record (display name + FCM token) is retained as long as you use the app. If you uninstall the app, your data will be automatically purged after 12 months of inactivity.
Report records are retained for up to 90 days for moderation purposes.

Secret Chat is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has used our app, please contact us and we will delete any associated data immediately.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Request access to the data we hold about you
Request deletion of your data
Opt out of personalized advertising
Withdraw consent for AI processing

10. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including Firebase Security Rules, server-side validation, and encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS). However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
